Wicked Math

Yesterday, me and a few of my friends and my brother's classmates went to NYC. We went to MOMATH, a math museum. It was pretty small but it's fun. My personal favorite experience at MOMATH was unlinking chains on the bottom floor. After that, we had dinner and then we watched Wicked, a broadway show. Wicked is about the Wicked Witch of the West, in The Wizard of Oz. I found out many facts about the story The Wizard of Oz. For example, the Wicked Witch of the West is named Alphaba. I don't want to giveaway anything!

This is the MOMATH logo
Sorry I couldn't find the url for Wicked.

Birthday Fun in "Bah Habah" Maine

On Thursday, we left for Maine. Since we live in the bottom corner of CT and drove along the coastline, it took 7 hours. We played BOP IT on the car and had a lot of fun and got bored too. When we finally got there, We took a walk. We lived in the "Maine" building.(GET IT?) We found out that the hotel had a dock and we could go fishing! The next day, we went to Acadia's Visitor center. Then, we drove up Mt. Cadillac and checked out the view. We also went to Sand Beech and got all wet. On Saturday, we woke up at 4:50 to see the sunrise up on Mt.Cadillac.(Really tiring but TOTALLY worth it.) Afterwards, we took a hike with a ranger up Beech mountain to see the fire tower (we got to eat huckleberries!). This time we brung the swimsuits, so we could swim in Echo Lake. We also went to the lighthouse where there are horseflies but also dolphins. On Sunday(my birthday), we went fishing on a boat for 3.5 hours, I caught 13 fish without bait. I guess the superstition is true, because the thirteenth fish pooped on me! My friends and family caught an average of 8-9 fish. Then, we ate lunch and went to the beach and skipped stones.(I also got a T-Shirt that said Bah Habah Maine.) That night, we ate cake and celebrated my tenth birthday! On Monday we came back to CT, and on the way back we ate a ton of Oreos and Lays'. Hope you go to Bar Harbor too!

Fun facts:
Got Bugspray? cause you're gonna need it. There are swarms of mosquitoes up there!
Mt.Cadillac is Acadia's tallest peak.
The fire tower has a better view than Mt. Cadillac!
If you take the fire tower hike you gotta have time! It takes 2 hours.
Go fishin' sometime, cause' take my word, you're gonna love it.
You'll regret it if you don't eat Fish n' Chips, Clam Chowder, or Lobster.

The Pow Wow

Have you been to the Pow Wow? If not, you'll be sad you didn't go. The Pow Wow is an annual event that occurs at my school, usually at the beginning of May. So, basically my school turns into an amusement park for 2 days, and there are really cool rides like, Zero Gravity and the Rip Cord. My favorite is probably the Cliff Hanger and the Alibaba which, mind you is now called Rock Star. The Zero Gravity, you have probably guessed that it has no gravity, but it is not exactly that. The Zero Gravity gives you a sensation of sentripical force, a tug forcing you to lean back. You can also feel sentripical force when you spin around super fast with your arms out, you feel a tug in your fingers. Does everyone know what the Rip Cord is? If you don't, I tell you. The Rip Cord is when you slowly go up but when you touch the top, you fall down. I uses a lot of electro-magnets. The Cliff Hanger is when you... SKYDIVE! You get strapped in and the the ride controls you going high and low and you go in a circle too. The Alibaba. Hmmm... that's hard to explain.  You go like this, you rock and rock until you go over the top and go around. This is a picture of the Alibaba. There is the Monkey cages that is the scary one. You flip around in a cage and hope when they stop, you don't end up upside down. This is a picture of the Monkey cages.

PS. I started this in May but I didn't finish it so I'm posting it now.

Yesterday, I got back from sleepaway camp. It was really fun I got to swim in Lake Schawwani (I'm not sure how it's spelled.) I "canoed" and made pottery too. It was chaos week at camp so after dinner we always had a fun camp activity.

After breakfast, we have a little break and then we met at the dining hall to go to our classes. I had canoeing first period, we learned how to paddle and how to capsize. Then, we had little break and met at the dinning hall for period 2. I had pottery at pottery I made a four leaf clover that had 4-H on it. After that, we had lunch and period 3. For period 3 I had archery I got to shoot 4 arrows. That wasn't actually that exciting because I've done archery before. After 3rd p we had another and went to the waterfront we got to swim canoe and go down water slides. Then, we had land rec we made friendship bracelets. On, Tuesday night we had cabin time and we pranked everyone by "selling" the camp with "for sale" signs, that was really fun!  On Wednesday, we had Battle for the Island, that is a kind of 4-way capture the flag. On Thursday, we had the talent show, I think Gracelynne sang really well. And of course we had the dance on Friday we drew posters and danced until we were sweating and took our showers. On Saturday we said our thankyous and goodbyes. and set off for home. we had to drive 2 hours northeast to get back to home, but I carpooled with my friends so we talked the whole way back.

Camping plans

Yesterday, at the girl scout meeting we talked about fire safety and cooking related topics. There were cool cooking kits for us to see and try so that we could figure out how to use them. If you are wondering why we were doing these activities in a girl scout meeting, I can tell you that it’s because on Friday, May 13 our troop is going on a camping trip.(spooky! Friday the 13th!)

We learned that when flames are over a foot high, you should NOT roast marshmallows. Also, we learned how to light a match and never light one when we are not told to. Mrs. Peck, who is one of the girl scout troop leaders, showed us a can opener and told us we might bring canned food to camping. We learned how to use three buckets of liquid to wash our plates. First, you put your plate in a holed bag. Then, you drape the bag in a bucket of water. You take it out and put it in a bucket of soap water, take it out again and put it in another bucket of clean water. Lastly, you wipe it dry with a piece of cloth.

We were also given tips on packing. One of the tips was to pack as much as you can carry.  I hope that even though the camping trip falls on Friday the 13th, it won’t rain so we can roast marshmallows to make s’mores. I look forward to this trip. I think it’s going to be fun! Wait for me to update you about the camping!

Blackout!!!

Last night(2/24/16), I was reading a book and all was normal. Then, the lights flickered and turned off, at first I thought: Hey, who turned off the lights I'm reading a book! But, then I realized it was a blackout. In the Morning .  .  .    My dad was cooking milk, and toasting toast on a pan!! I thought it was so weird. Then my dad took us to school when we got there we realized what had caused the blackout and that school was closed. A big tree had fallen over onto the electric cables!!

We are National Anthem Singers!

Today I sang the National Anthem at a hockey game in Webster Bank Arena, Bridgeport, CT.
I was excited and nervous at the same time. Everyone was looking at us! But, despite everyone looking at us it was pretty quick, and after the game my mom had said "they sang for only a minute". Also, I got the autograph and took a picture with a retired hockey player on the Bridgeport Sound Tigers Team, his name was Anders Lee. After the picture my friend was joking about how we had had a chance to "bunny ear" Anders Lee. At the game they were giving free Anders Lee Bobbleheads, Anders Lee was being honored. It made me think if I would ever be honored like that.

Our chorus singing the National Anthem.
